Perfect Day
In the series The Living Room, the choir always does something special, something less obvious, something adventurous. That already starts with the choir: 31 female choir members and only 6 men.
For this edition of The Living Room, we were inspired by variety and revue. The theme is Love, embracing and challenging each other. But also the love for freedom, unboundedness and adventure. This is not without risk and can also lead to madness and sometimes death... This revue ends in reconciliation with life and with enjoying a perfect day.
For this special concert, we have invited the German/Dutch singer Sven Ratzke. He is a performer pur sang, and variety and revue are his trademark. He is able to play with them like no other. The chemistry between him and the choir is sure to produce something exciting. The production is in the hands of Peter Leung, a former dancer and choreographer with the Dutch National Ballet. He has built up a great deal of experience in choreographing choirs and singers.
The repertoire is very varied: Ligeti, Brahms, Schubert and Ravel, but also Harry Bannink ( Vluchten kan niet meer and De Trapeze), Kurt Weill (parts of Die Dreigroschenoper) and Happy End, Lou Reed(Perfect Day), Frank Zappa(Discorporate), Duke Ellington and David Bowie(Boys keep swinging).
Sven Ratzke, together with the choir, will perform his own interpretation of Schubert' s Ständchen, accompanied by the combo. In short: everything is possible this evening.
