In this special concert, the Netherlands Radio Choir and chief conductor Benjamin Goodson provide a lot of adventure and variety. They perform a great 'song of praise to the sun', while it is still winter outside. The variety comes from six composers from no fewer than five countries. Eric Whitacre and the poet Edward Cummings have the sun born and the I-person reborn. The French composer Lili Boulanger paints a colourful sunset on the countryside in dreamy music, and in her Hymne au soleil. The Scotsman James MacMillan lets the choir shine, whisper and whistle in a poetic work in which mythical sun dogs play a central role.
