Easter concert
On Easter Sunday we will hear festive and tuneful music by Felix Mendelssohn. The first three movements of the symphony are purely instrumental, but in the final movement it takes on a deeper, biblical layer with the addition of choir and vocal soloists. This is very appropriate on Easter Sunday, the day celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.

Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2 'Lobgesang'
Felix Mendelssohn's
Second Symphony is a continuation of Beethoven's Ninth due to its length and the addition of chorus and vocal soloists in the final movement. He composed the symphony cantata for the celebration of four centuries of printing, with the Bible as the "book of books" in mind. After an upbeat opening movement, Mendelssohn strings highlight to highlight in this monumental choral symphony.
