Friends Lottery Summer Concerts - Handel and Mozart
Programme
- Georg Friedrich Handel Dixit Dominus
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Requiem
Mozart's Requiem
British conductor Benjamin Goodson once made his debut with the Groot Omroepkoor with Mozart's Requiem. That tasted like more and in the meantime he has been the choir's principal conductor for quite some time. Goodson calls the choir 'a jewel'. It continues to be fascinating to unite a group of people and to let them speak as one instrument. In the beautiful Requiem, written by Mozart not long before his own death, you will hear, in addition to the Netherlands Radio Choir, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and a magnificent cast of soloists.
Dixit Dominus
Handel was only 22 years old when he wrote a choral work on psalm 110: Dixit Dominus. The piece is an expression of praise to God, but also a composition full of drama. And virtuoso: a great deal happens between and within the vocal groups. It is Handel at his best: lively and expressive.
