On Saturday, February 4, 2023, we will celebrate our first lustrum: the 5th edition of the successful Great Sing Along Concert. The first three editions each featured a different requiem. In the fourth edition in 2019, we chose a completely new approach: an opera spectacle. In 2020, especially for our anniversary, we wanted to return to the genre that is particularly popular in the Groot Meezingconcert: the requiem! Unfortunately, we were forced to postpone the lustrum last year. We hope to be able to celebrate the anniversary on this date after all. Come and sing along to the beautiful music of Mozart's Requiem and Ave verum corpus.

The last Groot Meezingconcert in 2019 was a summer opera spectacle, thanks to the incredible efforts of all the sing-along participants, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Martin Wright, presenter Willem de Vries, vocal soloists from the choir and the Groot Omroepkoor itself. The program for the anniversary edition of the Groot Meezingconcert includes Mozart's Requiem, as well as his beautiful Ave verum corpus.

You will meet the familiar faces of the musicians of the Groot Omroepkoor and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra led by Martin Wright, who also conducted the previous four editions, at this Great Sing Along Concert. During the afternoon rehearsal on the day of the concert, you will be accompanied by Ben Martin Weijand, regular pianist of the Groot Omroepkoor. All solo parts in the Requiem will be sung by our own choir members.

Free workshops
In preparation for the Grand Singing Concert, two free workshops will again be organized. For the 5th Groot Meezingconcert these are scheduled on Saturday, December 10, 2022 and Saturday, January 28, 2023.Note: the workshop on January 28 is already fully booked! The workshops will take place at the Muziekcentrum van de Omroep in Hilversum from 12:00 to 17:30. You can indicate when booking a ticket if, and if so when, you would like to participate in a workshop. There is room for a maximum of 400 participants per workshop. As usual, singers of the Groot Omroepkoor will participate in these workshops; accompaniment will be provided by pianist Ben Martin Weijand.

Registration
On Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 6 p.m., the ticket office will open and you can register to participate in the Great Singing Concert and, if desired, the free workshop on Dec. 10, 2022. Registration is at: https://www.ticketkantoor.nl/shop/meezingconcert2023
Participants of previous Groot Meezingconcerten and Friends of the Groot Omroepkoor and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra will have the chance to be the first to sign up starting Tuesday, Oct. 4. For other participants registration starts Tuesday, October 11.

Discount for friends and students
If you are a Friend of the Groot Omroepkoor or the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra you can benefit from a substantial discount: you will not pay the normal price of € 40, but only € 25 for participation in this unique event. This discount also applies to students.
