Daniel Hermán Mostert

The baritone Daniël Hermán Mostert was born in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) in 1977.
After studying theology for two years (at a German-language institute in Sibiu/Hermannstadt, Romania), Daniël completed a study of music therapy in the Netherlands at the conservatory in Enschede.

After this he studied classical singing at the ArtEZ Conservatoire with Anne Haenen, Annette Kleine and Harry van Berne, at the same time working part-time as a music therapist.
In 2008 he completed his bachelor's degree. In April 2010 he took the concert for his master's degree.
During his studies he took masterclasses with David Wilson-Johnson, Meinard Kraak, Johannette Zomer, Carolyn Watkinson and Barbara Schlick, among others, often as part of Marien van Nieukerken's Lieder class.

Daniël is active as an ensemble singer, but also as a soloist in song recitals, operas and oratorios (by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Rossini, Fauré, Duruflé and Orff, among others).
He forms a duo with the Russian pianist Sofia Vasheruk. They have performed at the WDR-Musikfest in Münster and the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam, among other venues. In 2009, they won the prize of the 'Association of Friends of the Song' during the 1st International Student Song Duo Competition in Enschede. Since then, they have also given regular song recitals as soloists of this association (with songs by Schubert, Berg, Poulenc, Ravel, Quilter, Mussorgsky and Rachmaninov, among others).

He performed, among other things, the role of Adonis in Venus and Adonis by John Blow; the roles of Dr Pangloss and Martin in a Dutch adaptation of Bernstein's Candide and of Gil in Il segreto di Susanna by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari.
Since April 2010 Daniël has been working part-time with the Groot Omroepkoor.
