Diego Fasolis
The Swiss Diego Fasolis enjoyed a broad musical education: in Zurich he studied piano, organ, singing and conducting, in Paris he received organ lessons from Gaston Litaize and in Cremona he deepened his knowledge regarding historical performance practice with Michael Radulescu.
In the 1980s, Diego Fasolis began his career as pianist/organist and conductor at the broadcaster Radiotelevisione Svizzera di Lingua Italiana. In 1995 he was founder of Ensemble Vanitas, which specialized in the baroque repertoire. Three years later he became conductor of I Barocchisti.
In The Royal Concertgebouw's Own Programming, he made his first appearance with this baroque orchestra on Oct. 26, 2014, with Cecilia Bartoli's St. Petersburg Project. As a guest conductor, Diego Fasolis has in recent years made music with such companies as the Orchestra and Choir of the Scala in Milan and the RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin.
His specialty concerns the performance of the spiritual works of composers such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Buxtehude. In addition to his activities as a conductor, Diego Fasolis is also active as an organist and composer.
