Erks Jan Dekker
Erks Jan Dekker (Hattem, 1975), after obtaining his gymnasium diploma, followed the General Propedeutic Year at the Vrije Hogeschool in Driebergen, where among other things he discovered the possibilities of his voice. After this, he began a legal study at Utrecht University and received his first singing lessons from Evert-Jan Nagtegaal. During this period, Erks Jan was a member of the Utrecht Student Choir and Orchestra, which inspired him to pursue conservatory training.
He studied with Henny Diemer and Harry Peeters at the Utrecht School of the Arts, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in 2004. He also took master classes with Jard van Nes and Udo Reinemann, among others. In 2005 he was selected for the Nederlandse Vocalisten Presentatie (Dutch Vocalists Presentation), a competition that focuses on the oratorio repertoire.
Erks Jan has a great love for singing in ensembles. Since September 2006 he has been second bass with the Groot Omroepkoor.
He is also active as a freelance singer with renowned ensembles such as Cappella Amsterdam, Collegium Vocale Gent, the Flemish Radio Choir and Música Temprana.
