Falco van Loon

The tenor Falco van Loon (1976) sang in a choir as a child and also gained his first experience as a soloist there.

In 1999 he took singing lessons from Margriet Hoek. From 2001 he studied classical solo singing and ensemble singing at the conservatories of Enschede and Arnhem with Annette Kleine, Harry van Berne and Lodewijk Meeuwsen. He followed masterclasses with a.o. Marien van Nieukerken, Breda Zakotnik, Pierre Mak, David Wilson Johnson, Bernard Loonen and Meinard Kraak. 

Falco performed the tenor parts in the Christmas Oratorio and the St. Matthew Passion and various solos in cantatas by Bach. He has also performed as a soloist in oratorios by Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Haydn, Handel and Beethoven, among others.
He has participated in various opera productions, including Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Die Zauberflöte and Don Giovanni by Mozart, and had a major role in the premiere of the contemporary opera Ulrike Meinhof by A. Backerra. In the 2007/08 season, he performed the role of the chief priest Aceste in Mozart's opera Ascanio in Alba.

He has had a permanent appointment with the Groot Omroepkoor since August 2008. He sings regularly as a freelancer with various professional ensembles, such as the Nederlands Kamerkoor, The Amsterdam Baroque Choir, Capella Isalana, Ensemble Lyrique and Pulchra Mundi.
