Franske van der Wiel

Franske van der Wiel (1993) completed her bachelor's degree in classical singing in 2016 with Elena Vink at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle, where two years later she completed her master's degree in classical singing with Claudia Patacca and Marien van Nieukerken. She took master classes with various teachers, including Nelly Miricioiu, Margreet Honig, Jard van Nes, David Wilson-Johnson, Evelyn Tubb and Thomas Oliemans.

Franske's solo performances include Handel's Messiah and Brockes Passion, Bach's St. Matthew and St. John Passions, the Christmas Oratorio and Magnificat, Mozart's Requiem , Dvorák's Mass in D, Rossini 's Petite Messe Solennelle and various cantatas by Bach. She works as a substitute for the choir of the National Opera and the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. She also works regularly with the choir Consensus Vocalis, with whom she has sung in various operas of the Nederlandse Reisopera, such as La Traviata and Der fliegende Holländer.

In October 2016 she won second prize at the Bach Vocalist Competition in Tilburg. April 2017 she and pianist Ruben Tekelenburg participated in The International Student LiedDuo Competition, where they reached the semi-finals. Since 2018 Franske forms a permanent duo with pianist Maxime Snaterse, with whom she won a shared first prize at the Festival Vocallis in Vaals in October 2018.
