Franske van der Wiel

Franske van der Wiel

Mezzo-soprano Franske van der Wiel (1993) began singing at the age of six at the
Koorschool Midden-Gelderland in Ede. Under the guidance of conductor Albert Wissink
her musical basis was laid and she discovered her great passion for the profession.
In 2012 she naturally followed her studies in classical singing at the ArtEZ
Conservatory in Zwolle with Elena Vink and concluded after her bachelor (2016) her
master's degree (2018) cum laude with Claudia Patacca. During her studies she attended
various master classes, interpretation classes and song classes with many teachers.
She is currently coached by Marion van den Akker.

Franske has since developed into a much sought-after concert soloist and
ensemble singer, singing diverse repertoire from baroque to contemporary
classical music. She is praised for her beautiful voice color and warm
timbre. Her solo repertoire includes several oratorios, requiems and masses by
Bach, Mozart, Rossini, Duruflé, Dvorák, Handel, Mahler and Copland, among others
and she sang opera roles such as Dido (Purcell - Dido&Aeneas), 3rd Dame (Mozart - Die
Zauberflöte) and Magelone (Brahms-shortstory). In addition to her work as a soloist she is
also affiliated with the Groot Omroepkoor and the Nederlands Kamerkoor.
