Geert van Hecke

Geert Van Hecke was born in 1959 in Sint-Amandsberg. As a child, he played the violin. During his further studies, he became fascinated with vocal music.

He took singing lessons from Lucienne Van Deijck at the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp. In the meantime, Geert has taken part in professional ensembles, including the Flemish Opera.

He also studied early music with Jos Van Immerseel, Sigiswald Kuyken, Paul Dombrecht and Maria Christina Kiehr. He became a member of the Operastudio at La Monnaie Theatre and performed the role of Sarastro in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. At the Opera of the Brussels Conservatory, he performed the role of Collatinus in Britten's opera The Rape of Lucretia.

Geert has been associated with the Groot Omroepkoor since 1999. Since then, he has been a regular guest as a soloist in oratorios and passions. He also gives regular song recitals.
