Gert-Jan Alders

The bass Gert-Jan Alders studied at the conservatories of Alkmaar and Amsterdam, with Margreet Honig among others.

He then took various professional courses, including one at the International Opera Centre Netherlands, where he took part in a master class given by Russian singing teacher Ekaterina Jofel, and one by John Bröcheler.
Besides his work with the Groot Omroepkoor, Gert-Jan has built up an extensive song, oratorio and opera repertoire. His opera repertoire includes works from the Baroque to the 20th century, and a great variety of styles and vocal ranges - from Sarastro to Escamillo. A selection from his repertoire: Caronte from Monteverdi'sL'Orfeo, Don Pasquale from Donizetti's opera of the same name, Boris Godunov from Mussorgsky's opera of the same name, Prince Igor from Alexander Borodin's Prince Igor, Philip II from Verdi's Don Carlos and Escamillo from Bizet's Carmen.

Gert-Jan performed several times during the NTR Saturday Matinee in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam in Renard by Strawinsky, in Arabella by R. Strauss and with the role of the Mayor in Christmas Eve by Rimsky-Korsakov conducted by Valery Gergiev. In 1998 Gert-Jan performed the role of Pollonius in the opera Hamlet by A. Thomas, also in the NTR ZaterdagMatinee.
