Kevin John Edusei
German conductor Kevin John Edusei is a sought-after conductor worldwide, praised for the drama and tension in his performances, as well as his sense of structure, warmth and musical insight. He is known for his innovative approach to classical music, developing new formats and conducting a broad repertoire.
In the 2024/25 season, Edusei will make his debut with major orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Taiwan Philharmonic. He also returns to the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, where he enters his final season as Principal Guest Conductor. His passion for contemporary music is evident in this season's premieres of works by Hannah Kendall, Thomas Larcher, Gabriella Smith and others.
Edusei is a popular guest conductor worldwide with orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic. He works closely with the Chineke! Orchestra, with which he performs in such important venues as the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. He was previously chief conductor of the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Bern Opera, where he led successful productions of operas such as Peter Grimes, Ariadne auf Naxos and Bluebeard's Castle.
Edusei studied sound engineering, classical percussion and orchestral conducting at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He has won prestigious awards, including first prize in the Dimitri Mitropoulos Competition in 2008. He lives with his family in Munich.
