Peter-Paul Houtmortels
The tenor Peter-Paul Houtmortels studied solo singing at the Brabant Conservatoire in Tilburg. He received his diploma in solo singing from Marius van Altena. He is currently coached by the Dutch tenor Marcel Reijans.
In the south of France he took a master class with the Deller Consort conducted by Mark Deller, son of the famous counter-tenor Alfred Deller. With lutenist Robert Spencer, he worked on performances of early vocal music, including songs by Dowland and Purcell.
Already during his studies, Peter-Paul sang in the choir of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, in Collegium Vocale Gent and La Chapelle Royale in Paris, with which he made many tours through Europe.
Peter-Paul is associated with the Groot Omroepkoor, sings in various other ensembles and regularly makes solo contributions to choral concerts and oratorio performances. He has worked with well-known conductors such as René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe and Jos van Veldhoven, accompanied by the orchestra of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Florilegium Musicum, Concerto '91 and the Brabants Muzyk Collegie, among others.
He sang the role of Shepherd in the opera King Arthur by Henry Purcell, the evangelist part in Bach's St. Matthew and St. John Passion, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Reguiem and Benjamin Britten's St. Nicholas Cantata.
