On June 1, Edo de Waart, honorary conductor of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, turns 80. He will conduct the AVROTROS Friday Concert on April 30 in a program featuring Brahms' Second Symphony and, with the help of the Groot Omroepkoor, Nänie and Gesang der Parzen.

An ensemble from the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra played for Edo Henk de Vlieger's arrangements of Wagner's Siegfried-Idyll and the Prelude to the third act of Lohengrin.

 

On NPO Radio 4

On Monday, April 26, Edo was a guest for an hour with Hans Haffmans in Podium on NPO Radio 4. They talked about his career, his years with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and his favorite music.

Edo de Waart Assistant Conductorship

On Wednesday, April 28, director of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Roland Kieft, addressed Edo de Waart. Because of his artistic significance to the orchestra and his role in training young conductors, the orchestra is naming the assistant conductorship after Edo de Waart: the Edo de Waart Assistant Conductorship.
