Great Sing-along concert moved to 2023

The 'Groot Meezingconcert' has unfortunately been postponed once again, as participation in the event on 19 March '22 and the workshops preceding it are too restricted by the current corona rules. We hope to be able to hold the Big Voice Concert on a new date, namely: 4 February 2023.

Original message:

On Saturday 19 March 2022, we will celebrate our first lustrum with the 5th edition of the Groot Meezingconcert. In the first three editions, a different requiem was central each time. In the fourth edition in 2019, we opted for a completely new approach: an opera spectacle. Especially for our anniversary, we returned in 2020 to the genre that made the Meezingconcert great: the requiem! But as we all know, that didn't happen. Now, this repertoire will be presented again in this5th Great Meezingconcert.

Mozart: Requiem and Ave verum corpus

Just to look back: the Groot Meezingconcert 2019 was indeed a fantastic summer opera spectacle, thanks to the incredible efforts of all sing-along participants, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Martin Wright, presenter Willem de Vries, vocal soloists (from the choir) and of course the Groot Omroepkoor itself. This success will undoubtedly be repeated, if not surpassed, in the lustrum edition of the Groot Meezingconcert. In 2022, we will sink our teeth into Mozart's Requiem and, as the icing on the cake, we will also perform his wonderful Ave verum corpus.

At this concert, you will meet the familiar faces of the musicians of the Netherlands Radio Broadcasting Choir and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
The conductor is Benjamin Goodson, the principal conductor of the Netherlands Radio Choir. A wonderful opportunity to get to know him. Martin Wright, who has conducted previous Meezingconceros, could not make time in his diary for this 'Groot Meezingconcert' due to commitments with the Berlin Opera Choir.
The accompaniment of the afternoon rehearsal on the day of the concert has been entrusted to the ever enthusiastic pianist Ben Martin Weijand, regular pianist of the Groot Omroepkoor. All solo parts in the Requiem will be sung by our own choir members.
