Hannu Lintu
In season 2024/2025, Hannu Lintu continues his tenure as music director of the Orquestra Gulbenkian and chief conductor of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, proving to be a master of both symphonic and operatic repertoire. During the 2023/24 season, he was also announced as Artistic Partner of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra beginning in the fall of 2025.
Highlights of the 2024/25 season include his debut at the Bregenzer Festival as conductor of Oedipe and his return to Chicago Symphony, BBC Symphony, Finnish Radio Symphony, London Philharmonic, St Louis Symphony and Oregon Symphony.
Lintu has made several recordings for Ondine, BIS, Naxos, Avie and Hyperion for which he has received several awards including two ICMA awards and two GRAMMY nominations.
Lintu studied cello and piano at the Sibelius Academy, where he later became a conductor with Jorma Panula. He participated in master classes with Myung-Whun Chung at the L'Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and won first prize at the Nordic Conducting Competition in Bergen in 1994.
