José Kamminga

The alto José Kamminga studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Wout Oosterkamp and Sasja Hunnego. She completed this study in 2002. She also followed masterclasses with Barbara Hannigan and David Wilson Johnson, among others. José specialises in contemporary music. Since 2006 she has been associated with the Groot Omroepkoor.

In addition, José Kamminga gives recitals with pianist Henry Kelder. She is also connected to the Vocal Lab as a soloist. She has performed modern operas and music theatre, including the role of Kundry in the opera Parsifal by Boudewijn Tarenskeen. Both as a soloist and in ensembles, José has sung in Spain, France, Germany, England and Denmark.

She was the soloist in a concert with the Groot Omroepkoor in the ZaterdagMatinee in the Concertgebouw. For a performance of Tehellim in De Doelen in Rotterdam, José worked with the composer Steve Reich in 2008. In 2009 she performed with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
