Karina Canellakis conducts Bruckner's Symphony No. 6

Programme

  • Anton Bruckner Sixth symphony

A Bruckner full of swagger. Karina Canellakis leads the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in the dynamic Sixth Symphony.

Bruckner's Sixth

'Die Sechste ist die Keckste,' Bruckner said of his Sixth Symphony. In Dutch: de Zesde heeft van al zijn symfonieën de meest branie. Bruckner keeps it short for his purposes, and uses a modest set of instruments. Nevertheless, the result is inventive, dynamic and almost theatrical. The delicate Adagio also guarantees a moment of poignancy. It is the first Bruckner symphony that Karina Canellakist performs with her "own" orchestra.
