Benjamin Goodson

Like a prayer

Programme

  • Francis Poulenc Litanies à la Vierge Noire
  • Felix Mendelssohn Richte mich, Gott (from Drei Psalmen, opus 78)
  • Johann Sebastian Bach Prelude and fugue in e-flat major, BWV 533
  • Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur Le cantique des cantiques
  • Daan Manneke / Vincent van Amsterdam Trois petites symphonies
  • Frank Martin Mass for double choir with intonations

The Groot Omroepkoor and principal conductor Benjamin Goodson make their debut at the Muziekgebouw with an exemplary program: a-capella choral music by Poulenc, Mendelssohn, Daniel-Lesur and Frank Martin. The Mass for double choir is one of the most frequently performed and best compositions by the Swiss-Dutch composer Martin, who died in Naarden 50 years ago. The beautiful Agnus Dei from that Mass sounds like a heartfelt cry for peace.
